Riot’s fighting game 2XKO is getting two new playable characters on the same day. Senna, who was announced a few months ago, and her nemesis Thresh, whose surprise inclusion is highly appreciated.
Riot’s fighting game 2XKO is getting a surprise second character added to its future update. Originally, only Senna was supposed to come out on that day, but as League of Legends heads may know, she has quite the rivalry with a certain jailer from the Shadow Isles: Thresh.
He will join the 2XKO roster alongside Senna on June 9, 2026, echoing Warwick’s surprise inclusion to the game when its early access period started back in late 2025. Thresh’s 2XKO page reads: “Wicked and cunning, Thresh is a malevolent specter that delights in tormenting opponents, imprisoning their souls in his lantern for all eternity. He uses his chain to attack from tricky and unexpected angles, while his lantern lets him teleport and summon jailed souls for aid.”
Thresh seems to thrive at long ranges with far-reaching sickle strikes and overwhelming screen control. Riot has done a good job at translating one of his most iconic League of Legends abilities, his lantern toss, to a fighting game. Rather than using the lantern to pull your teammate towards you in a pinch, you can use it to create deadly mixups by allowing your duo partner to spawn directly on top of it when tagging them in.
Riot had teased Thresh’s arrival through Senna’s gameplay trailer. Right when it is about to end, the video cuts to a shot of the Shadow Isles, and we can hear the jailer laughing in the background. Riot devs also played their part teasing players by changing their names to “The Wretch” on X and posting the cryptic sentence: “Why don’t we make a deal, Senna?” Originally, 2XKO was supposed to receive five new characters for its first season, but that number was later bumped up to six when Riot revealed the game’s season 1 roadmap in April of this year.
