Resident Evil Requiem Just Received a “Fast-Paced” New Game Mode

A new update has just been released for Resident Evil Requiem. It adds the new game mode “Leon Must Die Forever,” as well as various adjustments.

Resident Evil Requiem’s first ever content update was released today, adding the new game mode “Leon Must Die Forever.” The roguelike minigame lets you play through a series of stages as Leon, in which you must survive until you kill the final boss, all within a time limit. The only caveat is that you need to have completed the game at least once on any difficulty to play it: “Unlocked by completing the story, this additional minigame mode challenges you to clear numerous stages as Leon while unlocking exclusive enhancer abilities. The fast-paced action is distinct from the main story mode, and is packed with replay value. Can you make it to the end alive and defeat the boss within the time limit?” Capcom’s Steam post reads.

This mode will be available on multiple difficulty settings, one of which is supposedly quite the challenge: “Multiple difficulty levels are available, including an extreme high-difficulty mode for only the most confident players. True to the title, you’ll die forever…”

The absence of an optional game mode à la Mercenaries was sorely lacking on Requiem’s release, and Capcom has added something similar to Resident Evil 7: Biohazard’s “Ethan Must Die” instead, which was hinted at in a video released in March, where Requiem’s director, Koshi Nakanishi, was wearing an Ethan Must Die shirt.

In the same video, Nakanishi also announced that a story expansion was currently in development for Resident Evil Requiem. While not much is known about it, Nakanishi explained during an interview with Denfaminico Gamer that “it is currently in full production, so please look forward to it.”
